The Book of Dow, 19 Thailand Drawings

Kata Hills, Phuket Thailand

The Book of Dow Kata Hills A3 #1–#19 Created in Phuket, Thailand, between November and mid December 2025, this excerpt from The Book of Dow brings together a selection of works on paper that explore presence, transformation, and the space between recognition and abstraction. Throughout the series, forms emerge and dissolve: figures appear briefly, architectural structures suggest passages and thresholds, while organic elements evoke growth, decay, and renewal. Rather than illustrating specific narratives, the works invite viewers to encounter fragments of memory, emotion, and experience in a constantly shifting visual landscape. Each piece stands independently, yet together they form a coherent journey through states of becoming, disappearance, and rediscovery.

The Book of Dow is an ongoing body of original works on paper that serves as both a visual diary and an independent artistic project. Created through an intuitive process of layering, erasure, construction, and chance, the series explores the relationship between abstraction and human presence.

Recurring motifs including figures, thresholds, architectural fragments, and organic forms appear throughout the work without predetermined meaning. Instead, they emerge naturally through the act of painting, allowing each image to retain its own ambiguity and openness.

The project is not concerned with providing answers or fixed interpretations. It offers a space where viewers may discover their own associations, memories, and emotional responses. Every work exists as a unique original and forms part of a larger evolving archive that continues to expand over time.
